It is
the purpose of this Science Exchange to provide you with
useful information regarding worldwide academic
activities which can help you reach your desired
objectives. The broad objectives for which this Exchange
site was created can be divided into five (5) major
categories:
1)
to provide for
--students
and prospective students seeking to continue or to
begin their studies in science, and for
--post-doctoral students and other faculty personnel
seeking employment in scientific academic
environments
a tool for
finding colleges and universities that best suit their
particular interest by providing them with a glimpse into
the type of scientific issues that are being discussed in
various colloquia & seminars offered by the
respective colleges and universities they are interested
in applying to;
2)
to provide for the academic community at large a
comprehensive and detailed list of all major scientific
conferences & symposia worldwide, and for
science students to provide an extensive and complete
list of all major summer
schools & workshops
worldwide;
3)
to provide for those interested in or fascinated
by the subjects of science a list of most notable science
expositions & museums worldwide;
4) to
provide reference for the major professional science
organizations, worldwide, and finally,
5) to
provide for science faculty members seeking new
employment a selected list of academic openings covering
all fields of Natural Sciences from around the corner to
around the world.
On
the List of Colloquia & Seminars Offered
by various Colleges, Universities, and other Academic
Institutions
The
importance that an academic institution attaches to the
colloquia & seminars offered by its various
science departments is an important indicator of how
sciences are fostered and cultivated in that respective
institution. Thus, be wary of those academic institutions
that claim to be great places for studying science yet
offer little or no attention to
colloquia & seminars. Through the "natural
selection" process those academic institutions will
become more and more insignificant and eventually
extinct.
The "pulse"
of an academic institution can be measured through the
quantity and quality of its
colloquia & seminars. Thus, before
committing yourself to a particular school be it as a
student or a staff member do yourself a favor: get as
much information as possible on their past, present, and
future colloquia & seminars programs. Go
beyond the title of a seminar or a colloquium and probe
its content. See what visiting scholars are participating
in the colloquium and seminar programs of that school. If
no outside scholars are attracted to participate in those
programs why should you consider having anything to do
with that school? For an interested subject ask about a
detailed content and the papers that were presented if
they are not posted or detailed on their website. The
more knowledge you will gain from a departments
colloquia & seminars program, the
more informed you will be on whether this is the right
school for you. Your time spent in this investigation is
invaluable as you will gain a feeling for the real deal!
It is not a coincidence that we have incorporated into
the name of our science annex the RealDeal!
All of our
colloquia & seminars listings are in
English and, they are grouped into five (5) fields
(Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Biology, and Philosophy)
and divided further by their geographical locations. If
you do not see the name of a particular academic
institution for the field and geographical location that
you are seeking, then there is a high probability that
the said academic institution may have few or
non-existent colloquia & seminars programs.
Since our lists are continuously evolving, we would
appreciate if you would notify us in reference to an
academic institution that was omitted from our listings.
The
seminars & colloquia listings that you see
here are the original, unedited, and unabridged listings
provided by the respective academic institutions from
their website. Thus if a
colloquia & seminars listing of a
particular academic institution you find to be
superficial and inattentive, this is an unmistakable sign
of the diminished importance that those "exchange of
ideas" programs receive from that respective school.
Probe more into the depth of those programs and at the
end decide if that is the right academic school for
you.
To enter into
our database search area, click on the respective
"Colloquia & Seminars" entry from our main
Navigational Bar above. Once there, you will be guided to
reach with ease your desired destination. Wishing you
success with your search.
Currently,
please be advised that our database contains only
listings for Physics for the continental USA. We will
move as quickly as we can to expand these listings to
Canada, Europe, and the rest of the world. We will then
move on by compiling our databases for the remaining
four (4) fields (Astronomy, Chemistry, Biology, and
Philosophy) in like fashion. Yes, we have a lot of work
in front of us before finishing with this project. If you
are interested in helping us financially, you can do so
via tax-deductible contributions by becoming either a
Sponsor for this project or a Patron of Science. To learn
more about all this, please visit our page on this
subject by clicking on the corresponding entry from our
main Navigational Bar above. Thank you for visiting us
here. We hope to see you back and, let us know, from time
to time, how we are
doing.
On the
Lists of
Scientific Conferences & Symposia, Summer
Schools & Workshops;
Faculty & Research Openings; and,
Nature Expos (Natural History Museums &
Planetariums,
Botanical Gardens & Parks,
Aquariums & Zoos,
Astronomical Observatories & Science Labs)
In addition
to the Colloquia & Seminars, we present
here comprehensive listings worldwide for:
- conferences & symposia,
summer schools and workshops;
- faculty & research
openings; and
- nature
expos;
in the fields
of Natural Sciences (Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry,
Biology), History of Science, and Philosophy of Science,
Nature, and Religion.
Each listing
posted will be linked (whenever available or known) to
the website page of the respective institution. Thus, by
clicking on the title of the listing, you will be
transported to its corresponding website page.
We have
completed the Colloquia & Seminars and the
Conference and Symposia sections in Physics only, and
currently we began working on the list of Natural History
Museums and Planetariums.
We
shall provide here further information, as needed, in
respect to our listings and services. We appreciate your
interest and support. Drop us a line if you like, letting
us know how we can make these listings even
better.
